Lucky 7 Idols for Tokyo Idol Festival 2015? Check it Yo!

For those of you who have yet to commit to a concrete plan of attack for Tokyo Idol Festival 2015 even though it begins in less than 24 hours, here are a few groups which should be worth seeing either because this will be their last appearance before disbanding or because they have undergone some big changes since 2014.

Dorothy Little Happy

Fans of the group from Sendai were devastated when Ruuna Akimoto, Mimori Tominaga, and Koumi Hayasaka announced that they would be graduating to give their full attention to their group callme. While it is not unusual for members to graduate, for more than half the group to leave, especially when they have been together for 5 years, is unheard of! While there has not been a special “Dorothy Little Happy x callme collab stage” announced to get the group back together for a few songs, Mari Takahashi and Mimori Tominaga will be performing together in Magical☆Dreamin’ on both days of the event.

Idoling!!!/NEO from Idoling!!!

All the members of Idoling!!! will be graduating at the end of their 15th live at the Nippon Budokan on October 5, 2015 so this is definitely their final Tokyo Idol Festival. Expect their fans to be out in full force and full of emotions! As usual, the members of Idoling!!! will be all over the place acting as special guests or MCs and participating in collab stages so even if you didn’t intend to see them, you probably will. The “Moso Calibration x Idoling!!!” collab stage should be interesting!

palet was having an amazing 2014 but, 2015 brought with it the graduations of Mizuki Kimoto and Mitsuki Kimijima at Ebisu The Garden Hall on June 21th. Mayu Watanabe (3min.) made her debut as a new member at Platinum Sonic vol. 2 on July 25th as the group also performed their upcoming single “All for One” (release date: September 23) for the first time. Watanabe looked confident but, it should be interesting to see how she handles double duty in the August heat, even though she will miss several of 3min.’s performances.

PASSPO☆

Since last year’s Tokyo Idol Festival, PASSPO☆ lost Makoto Okunaka to graduation and Sako Makita to indefinite hiatus. The group looked strong as they finally performed as a 7-member formation for the first time at their one-man at Ebisu The Garden Hall on July 25th after Mio Masui fought her way back from back problems. Of particular interest is their collab stages in the HEAT GARAGE with Silent Siren (8/2 10:15 – 10:45am) and Fudanjuku (8/1 3:50 – 4:20pm). Hopefully, the SMILE GARDEN will be less chaotic for them than it was in 2014.

POP (Period of Plastic 2 Mercy)

Originally named Pla2me, the duo of Mari Mizuta and Saki Kamiya made a big commotion when they debuted at Tokyo Idol Festival 2014, running into the crowd while performing their debut song “Plastic 2 Mercy” at Smile Garden. Since then, Mizuta left the group due to creative differences, 4 new members were added, and the name was changed to POP (an initialism of Period of Plastic 2 Mercy). In case you haven’t had a chance to see them since the changes took place, they have put a few of their songs on a SoundCloud page where you can preview them before their 1st album is released on August 4th.

Shizukaze & Kizuna

All members of the Nagoya girls’ rock unit will be graduating at the end of the summer so this is probably your last chance to see Shizukaze & Kizuna. They will be performing new songs which will be for sale at the event as well.

SKE48

Rena Matsui, one of the most popular members of SKE48, if not the entire “48 group” universe will be graduating at Toyota Stadium in Aichi prefecture on August 30th. Unless you were planning to be there, and/or at Nagoya Port Messe on August 15th or Saitama Super Arena for her fan thanksgiving events, Tokyo Idol Festival 2015 might be your last chance to see her! Expect it to be one of the most crowded stages of the entire weekend so if you want to go, go early!

With over 150 performers, it would probably be easy to plead a case of each and every one so we apologize for not going further in detail. However here are a few more that might be worth looking out for.

Lovely★DOLL with their 4 new members after the graduations of Yuki Iwasaki, Maya Ashizaki, and Kana Tsuzuki earlier in 2015.

The possible debut of 3 new members of CAMOUFLAGE after the departure of Shoko Takasaki and graduation of Asu Tatematsu due to health issues.

Ai Shinozaki’s return to Tokyo Idol Festival as a soloist after appearing with AeLL before they disbanded in September of 2014.

The final Tokyo Idol Festival for Raymee Heavenly (Afilia Saga).

The debuts of groups like Kobushi Factory, Batten ShowJo-tai, Sakura Ebi~s, Petit PASSPO☆, Wa→Suta, etc.

Anyway, we still need to figure who else to try and see this weekend without causing bodily harm! Just remember to “Remain Calm and Urya~oi!”
