Ciao Bella Cinquetti (formerly known as THE Possible) has released the MVs for “Futakotamagawa” and “Never Never Give Up” from their triple A-side single “Never Never Give Up/Omotesando/Futakotamagawa” (release date: July 8).
“Futakotamagawa” is a sad ballad set in the upscale suburb on the border of Tokyo and Kanagawa from which it takes its name. Even though the romanized title is not correct, the English subtitles are considerably more accurate when conveying the heartbreak of a promising young relationship that has ended tragically. “Futakotamagawa” has music and lyrics by Takanori Tsunoda and arrangement by Shunsuke Suzuki.
“Never Never Give Up” is a cool and mature mid-tempo head-nodding dance song powered by a bass groove and piano melody. It was composed and arranged by Shunsuke Wada and the lyrics were written by Tsunku. This might be the purest musical expression of their new name Ciao Bella Cinquetti?
“Never Never Give Up/Omotesando/Futakotamagawa” will be released in 6 different versions: a first press limited edition version with a DVD and 5 CD-only regular versions. The 5 different regular versions will include acoustic solo versions of “Omotesando”: Yurika Akiyama (Type-A), Robin Shoko Okada (Type-B), Yuki Goto (Type-C), Aina Hashimoto (Type-D), Kanami Morozuka (Type-E). If Ciao Bella Cinquetti get another triple A-side single in the future, could it follow this pattern again? A cover of a campy old song, a heartbreaking ballad, and a cool song? Or maybe they’ll use place names again? How about Takadanobaba and Soto-Kanda? Gotanda and Kita-Senju? Kichijoji and Akabane? One thing is certain, Ciao Bella Cinquetti’s first single (since their name change) seems to have a little bit of everything.
