Confession Time! AKB48 Unveils MV for “LOVE TRIP” and The Double A-side Single’s Details

The music video for LOVE TRIP, one of the 2 A-side tracks of the group’s 45th single, was uploaded to YouTube on August 2, 2016. The song is centered by Rino Sashihara, the first member to rank first place two years in a row in Senbatsu Elections. This song is also used as the theme song for the drama “Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.”

In the past 10 years, the group has released many songs about love, starting with the famous line “Suki naraba sukidato iou” (“if you like someone, then say it”) from their “Aitakatta” single. With romance on the decline in Japan, the group started a “Let’s Confess, Japan” project with this song and hopes to rekindle that loving feeling. They put out calls for those who want to confess, and took the “LOVE TRIP ” Bus all over Japan to help them with their confessions. Many stories were born from the successes, heartbreaks, and in on case, a proposal that took 17 years.

The video contains 12 such confessions that brought tears of joy to members and staff alike. This summer will definitely be the summer of romance!

The new single, “LOVE TRIP / Shiawase wo Wakenasai” comes out on August 31, 2016, and the video for the other song will be released very soon.

The theme of this video is “confession”. We were very excited and moved by all the confessions, regardless of the result.

It’s rare to witness confessions, so we were very happy that we were able to bring people together through shooting this video. We hope those who got together will be happily ever after.
