5th generation member Haruka Ishida announced her graduation from AKB48 during Team K’s afternoon performance of “Saishuu Bell ga Naru” at the AKB48 Theater on March 30, 2016.
Later that evening, Ishida took to Twitter to explain her reasons.
“I, Haruka Ishida will graduate from AKB48. I have decided to follow my dream of becoming a seiyuu (voice actress). Thank you for liking me. I’m sorry that AKB48’s “Harukyan” will be going away. Honestly, I have a lot of worries. Will you continue to support me…?”
Haruka Ishida joined AKB48 as a 5th generation member alongside Miho Miyazaki, Rino Sashihara (HKT48), Rie Kitahara (NGT48), and Rina Chikano. She made senbatsu for the first time via the 2010 Janken Tournament, just losing out to Mayumi Uchida, who took the center position for AKB48’s 19th single “Chance no Junban”. Ishida voiced the character Kanata Shinonome from the anime AKB0048 and was a member of the sub-unit NO NAME. Her graduation date will be announced at a future date.
