Yurika Akiyama shocked fans by announcing a rather sudden departure from the famous pop idol group on August 10, 2015.
Akiyama announced that she will graduate with immediate effect from Ciao Bella Cinquetti (who were known as THE Possible until July 8th). In her announcement, she states that things have changed for her, and the last 6 months have been 80% painful and 20% fun. She also talked about feeling less enthusiastic than the rest of the group as their activities increased with their most recent single “Never Never Give Up/Omotesando/Futakotamagawa” (release date: July 8) reaching the number 3 spot in the Oricon chart.
Up-Front Create Management commented, “We will respect what she thought about seriously, and even if this regrettable, it has reached this conclusion. To all the fans and to the staff, we really apologize about this sudden announcement. Ciao Bella Cinquetti will continue as a 4 member group. It will probably not be a flat road but those 4 women will continue to progress, with all their energy and with the support of the staff altogether.”
Yurika Akiyama [秋山ゆりか] started in the industry in 2004 when she joined Hello! Project. Ciao Bella Cinquetti (formerly THE Possible) were under the Nice Girl Project! until recently, after being formed from 6 Hello! Pro Egg members in 2006. The group have released 10 major label singles (18 overall) with their most recent being the most successful to date.
