UPUPGIRLS (KARI) again challenged the territory that idols have never dared to tread. In the past, the group held the events at the severe environments such as the top of Mt. Fuji and the group this time chose an inaccessible uninhabited as a concert venue. The concert titled “Road to Budokan Riku no Kotou Hikyou Kessen” on September 22nd strengthened the bonds between the members and their fans.
A two and half hour journey by boat brought the members and their fans to the concert venue in Shizuoka prefecture. No electricity or sewage facilities were provided. The members arrived the place the day before their fans and welcomed them with homemade curry. The members created the stage set with mirror balls, swings, and hammocks, so that they could all enjoy the concert surrounded by nature.
The concert opened with “Survival Girls” and their new single “!!!!!!!!” which will be released on October 11th. Konatsu Furukawa asked the audience to yell out since there was no fear of being scolded for making too much noise. Fireworks, sprays of water, soap bubbles, and flowers made the audience feel as if they were at Ibiza Festival with a strong four-to-the-floor beat.
Ayano Sato said after the concert that they could make the audience and even themselves enjoy the concert despite the severe location. They certainly gained confidence and their fears about Budokan seemed to fade away. Akari Saho added that they want to hold an event at the bottom of the sea or in outer space.
