UPUPGIRLS (KARI) Collaborate With Rising Creators to Release New MVs for Their THIRD ALBUM (KARI)

UPUPGIRLS (KARI) have released 3 new MVs for songs from their third album “THIRD ALBUM (KARI)” (release date: March 17). Two of the songs, “Niji Iro Mosaic” (16th single, release date: December 25, 2013) and “Jumper!” (17th single, release date: April 9, 2014) were previously released as singles but, “Kira Kira Mirai” is a new song recorded for the album. Five MVs have been planned to be released as part of a collaboration with several of Japan’s rising creators, similar to the campaign from their second album.
Here is the MV for “Jumper! (JUMP JUMP JUMP version)”. It was produced by KASICO who collborated with them on making the video for “Chopper☆Chopper” for their 2nd album, designed the artwork for mimmam’s debut single, and launched the Graphic Girl project and MAD PLAY! for MAD FOOT. A collection of photos and video clips are used to have UPUPGIRLS (KARI) travel through time and space on the screen as they perform the song in various locations.

The MV for “Niji Iro Mosaic” was produced by Midori Kawano and uses old photos and video clips set against a series of colorful background graphics to create a memorable and cute trip through the history of UPUPGIRLS (KARI). At the end of the video, many of the images that appear on the screen form a mosaic of the (KARI) symbol.
The MV for “Kira Kira Mirai” was produced by Hiroki Sugiyama and has a little story about Azusa Sekine, Akari Saho, and Manami Arai living together. While it’s really cute to see them goofing off, hopefully they are eating more than just potato chips and popcorn when they’re not pretending to be roommates.
Five MVs were announced to be released for songs from the album and three have been revealed. Kazunori Shimada has been named as the creator in charge of the MV for “Bijo no Yajuu” and KASICO will be in charge of the MV for “Runway”. Based on screenshots released by other Japanese news sources, the MVs look like they will be very different than the ones released so far. Is it too late to hope that Saki Mori or any of the other members turn into a monster and fights Godzilla or some other kaijuu in the MV for “Bijo no Yajuu”?
THIRD ALBUM (KARI) comes in a First Press limited Edition version which includes a DVD of their performance at KINGDOM HALL in Aichi during “UPUPGIRLS (KARI) Live House Tour 2014 High Spurt Kingdom”. Because UPUPGIRLS (KARI) are on T-Palette (Tower Records Japan’s idol specialty label), if you order either version using Tower Records Japan online, there is a bonus DVD with backstage footage of their Osaka and Nagoya performances from 2014. Those who purchase the album at Tower Records in-store release events will receive a “Nenmatsu Upga no Reverse MIX 2015” CD as a bonus.
UPUPGIRLS (KARI) have already begun their 7 city tour with Team Makenki and will be starting their 47-prefecture tour of Japan as well as holding release events for THIRD ALBUM (KARI) later this month.
