Sakiko Matsui Decides to Take a Solo: Announces Graduation from AKB48
Sakiko Matsui, 7th generation member of AKB48, announced her graduation from the group on May 29, 2015 during a (Team A -“Renai Kinshi Jourei”) performance at the AKB48 Theater. Her announcement came during the final Team A performance of Nao Furuhata (SKE48 Team Team KII) and Fuuko Yagura (NMB48 Team M) who had their concurrent statuses cancelled during the Saitama Super Arena concert.
As a student specializing in piano at Tokyo College of Music and one of the members of the biggest idol group in the world, balancing the two must not have been easy.

In a blog entry posted the following day, Matsui expressed her gratitude at being able to do so many things that she would not have as a normal college student but, for the sake of her dreams, she had to make a choice. Due to her busy schedule, Matsui had taken a break from her studies and had just returned in April after a 2-year absence. She released an album titled “Kokyuu suru Piano” in 2012, making her the first member of AKB48 to release an instrumental album. Her final event with the group has not yet been confirmed.
