Rio Hiiragi Encourages Otaku With MV for “Akiba Romance” Subtitled into English, Chinese, and French!

Rio Hiiragi has released the MV for “Akiba Romance ~Wotaku no Seiichi☆Akihabara~” (Akiba Romance ~Otaku’s Holyland☆Akihabara~), one of the coupling songs from her single “Kimagure I love you ~Watashi wo Mitsukete~” (release date: April 1). While an ode to Akihabara by an idol is already something that would be a hot topic, there are 5 versions of the video with subtitles in English, French, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese as well as Japanese!

In the song, Hiiragi encourages otaku to not give up on their ways if it makes them happy, regardless of what others may think about them. It’s pretty hilarious to see some of the weird looks some people give her as she is filming the video. Compared to other places in Japan, it’s not that unusual to see maids and otaku filming themselves on the streets in Akihabara. If anything, the “normal” people are probably in the minority there.

Traditional Chinese

At the same time, Riorio (Hiiragi’s nickname) walks through the streets and takes viewers on a tour of several Akihabara sights and landmarks. Are you craving a giant “deka-mori” tempura-don or kebab now?

French

Accompanied by maids, her fans, and a panda, Riorio talks about a lot of the things that otaku deal with but, she also tells some truths about enjoying life.

Japanese

“Kimagure I love you” will be released in 2 limited edition versions and 4 regular versions and the track listing and contents will vary by type. Type-A (limited edition) will include a DVD with the MV for “Kimagure I love you” and the Type-B (limited edition) version includes a photo book. Based just on these videos, it looks like “Kimagure I love you” might be one of Riorio’s best releases yet! Let’s support otaku idols like Riorio who support otaku culture!
