The Final Result of AKB48 6th General Election : Mayuyu Finally Got #1 Realizing her Fervent Wish!

AKB48 6th took place at Ajinomoto Stadium on June 7.
Despite the inclement weather, 70,000 people gathered at the venue to be a part of the historical moment.

In the end, AKB48 member Mayu Watanabe finally got ranked at the 1st place for her first time! HKT48 member Rino Sashihara couldn’t hold the championship for two years.

The general election this year promised “the fight for each group’s pride”. In addition to the long-standing group AKB48, other groups SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48 (the group that last year’s champion Rino Sashihara belongs to) participated. So, one of the highlights was the number of members chosen from each group.

Then, Rina Kawaei, who took a break after the incident at the handshake event, was ranked in at number 16. Getting chosen for the first time, she made an appearance in front of fans for the first time since the incident. Anna Iriyama regrettably ranked at 20th place and couldn’t make it to the general election, although she has sent a message through the phone to the venue and offered the fans some relief.
Additionally, Rina Ikoma from Nogizaka46 ranked in 14th place and became the first AKB48 member chosen from the official rival group.
