If you haven’t seen it already, the jaw-dropping, side-splitting MV for “Nippon Manju” from LADY BABY‘s 1st single “Nippon Manju/ULTRA☆LUCKY” (release date: July 29) has been set loose on the world! The “kawaiicore” group made up of Miss iD winners Rie Kaneko and Rei Kuromiya and Australian crossdressing kawaii icon Ladybeard is proof that just when you think you have seen it all, something new comes along!

Contributor Wanted!!

“Nippon Manju” is an over the top ode to many of the great things about Japan while showcasing many famous locations like Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Takeshita Street in Harajuku, Kaminarimon in Asakusa, Tokyo Sky Tree, and Asahi Golden Flame (aka the golden poo). The song starts off like a typical cute idol song but then, Ladybeard’s deep growling vocals smash everything to pieces!

Even in Tokyo, sometimes people act like they’ve never seen a bearded Austrian with twin-tails in a maid outfit before! They must be from the countryside?

Even though Ladybeard, Rie, and Rei take up most of the time on screen dancing and going crazy all over Japan, Shizu Mizuno makes a short appearance as does new member “Maru-sama”. The guitar solo is provided by the always uniquely dressed ROLLY (ex-Scanch, ex-Rock Fujiyama) and there’s also some “Keyboard from Hell” courtesy of Hajimetal. There doesn’t seem to be any sign of Nicho Halo leader Mikitty Honmono though.

“Nippon Manju/ULTRA☆LUCKY” will be sold in a CD/DVD version with the MV for “Nippon Manju” on it. The other song, “ULTRA☆LUCKY”, is the first song that Shizu Mizuno wrote lyrics for and will have her rapping as well.

Not all of Japan is the way that it is shown in the MV for “Nippon Manju” but, there are times and places where such unexpected things can and will happen. It’s just one of the many great things about this country. You never know when you’ll be crossing the street and run into someone like Ladybaby. Welcome to Japan!
