Atsuko Maeda Walks Through Osaka Barefoot and Refreshes in Fruit Baths in the MV for “Selfish”

Atsuko Maeda takes another bold step forward in the MV for “Selfish”, the lead track off her 1st album “Selfish” (release date: June 22)!

Opening with Atsuko riding a taxi on a rainy night, the scene shifts to her with a blonde wig and singing in a cabaret club where a very thirsty man walks through the door and takes a seat at the bar. Ryuichi Hiroki, who previously worked with Maeda for 2014’s Kabukicho Love Hotel (さよなら歌舞伎町, Sayonara Kabukicho) returns to direct this MV. The visuals are quite luxurious and cinematic but, what is probably of most interest to fans are the scenes where Atsuko is in a bathtub filled with a variety of different fruits! It’s like she’s trying to make sangria! While this is just a preview, the full version expands on the storyline of her relationship with the man introduced in the beginning, as shown in the commercial added to the end of the video. There’s an impressive scene towards the end where she’s walking barefoot down the street in Osaka near it’s famous landmark Tsutenkaku!

“Selfish” will be released in 4 different versions: 3 CD/DVD and a regular CD version. In addition to “Selfish”, there are 3 additional new songs: Zetsubo no Iriguchi (Type-B), Yasashii Sayonara (Type-C), Wagamama no Vacance (Type-D).The CD/DVD versions include the full-length MV for “Selfish” and the making of for the MV (Type-A), the first half (Type-B) and second half (Type-C) of Atsuko’s 1st one-man live “SEVENTH CHORD” at ZEPP Tokyo (April 3, 2014). In celebration of the album’s release, there will be a free live at Lazona Kawasaki on June 11! Don’t miss it!
