Rina Kawaei Was Loved! AKB48 Saitama Super Arena Summer Concert Report – Day 2

On the second day of “AKB48 Solo Summer Concert ~Kawaei-san No Koto ga Suki deshita~” (August 2, 2015), there were 2 performances to send off graduating members Rina Kawaei and Asuka Kuramochi at Saitama Super Arena.

During the daytime performance, there was a graduation ceremony for Asuka Kuramochi, who would be graduating on August 17th to pursue her dream of becoming a sportscaster. In the middle of the concert, she appeared on stage in a white dress and white coronal and sang “Sakura no Ki ni Narou” by herself.

With tears in her eyes, Asuka said to her fans, “8 years ago, I became an idol even though my father said no. At first, I was very nervous, however, I made many great friends and had fans that supported me, and today I am able to see this view from this stage. I think I made the right decision 8 years ago.”

She added, “I hope moving on to the next step will be a good way to repay the kindness of my fellow AKB48 members. I will keep on moving forward for everyone to keep me in mind.” Afterwards, she sang “Shiroi Shirts” and “Fan Letter” accompanied by the other members.

The graduation ceremony for Rina Kawaei took place during the encore of the evening performance, which included a rendition of “Hasute to Wasute” with Haruna Kojima and Minami Takahashi assuming the roles of her stick puppets. Kawaei wore a pink dress and read a letter to her fans.

“To all the people who have supported me for the past 5 years, thank you. I wasn’t good at singing or dancing, and on stage, I always couldn’t do well. But even for a person like me, there were fans who told me they were supporting me. Gradually, my dream was to become a selected member. I said this through the handshake events and 2 years ago, my fans helped me rank in at 26th place during the AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo. Last year, even though there was an incident that made many of my fans worry, I was able to come in at 16th place. And then I thought about what I wanted to do, this was acting. You never know what will happen in life, so when you want to do something, you should go for it. I know it won’t be easy but, I am going to work hard. Thank you.”

The whole arena was lit up with the white penlights and fans in the stand seats held up red and white boards creating the words “Thank you”. As they sang Kawaei’s graduation song, “Kimi no Dai-ni Shou”, she walked through a runway created by her fellow members.

Rina’s first job after graduating will be the stage play, “AZUMI Bakumatsu-hen”, starring as the lead role.
