AKB48 Opens the Floodgates on the Water-Themed MVs from “Halloween Night”!

AKB48 has revealed short previews of the MVs for the songs performed by the 17th to 80th ranked members in the 2015 Senbatsu Sousenkyo (General Election) from the group’s upcoming 41st single “Halloween Night” (release date: August 26)! Is it reaching to far to say that they are all connected to water somehow? It’s raining in two of them and there are pools of water in the other three.
“Sayonara Surfboard” by the Undergirls (17-32) has them taking pictures and posting them to an Instagram-like photo sharing application. There seems to be a story where center Haruka Kodama is rejected by a clueless guy with a surfboard but, since this is only a short preview, it will remain to be seen whether or not he is eaten by a shark for being so dense.
“Mizu no Naka no Dendoritsu” has Next Girls (33-48) submerged in a pool while wearing strapless party dresses. It seems they are really committed to not having a swimsuit MV for summer 2015 (even though NMB48 had no problems). Since underwater knee high socks are already a thing in Japan, why not underwater party dresses too?
“Kimi ni Wedding Dress wo…” by Future Girls (49-64) documents the paths of the members as they proceed towards center Sumire Sato’s walk down the aisle of a chapel in a wedding dress. It appears that the groom and Yukari Sasaki have an unresolved matter as the start of the ceremony approaches. What will happen?
“Kimi dake ga Akimeiteita” by Upcoming Girls (65-80) has them going on a bus tour to cut down padlocks which were presumably put there by the girls and their former lovers now that the relationship has cooled off. Hopefully, there is some kind of party with delicious food planned for the latter part of the itinerary, otherwise that has to be one of the most depressing bus tours ever!
As the official AKB48 group official Bon-Odori Song, “Ippo-me Ondo” is a very traditional tune that could easily be heard at a local Bon Dance either in Japan or any Japanese expat community around the world during the summer. Yoisha!
“Halloween Night” will be released in 4 limited edition versions and 4 regular versions CD/DVD). “Sayonara Surfboard” is the title of the Undergirls (17-32) song (Type-A, Type-B exclusive). “Mizu no Naka no Dendoritsu” is the Next Girls (33-48) song (Type-C, Type-D exclusive). “Kimi ni Wedding Dress wo…” is the Future Girls (49-64) song (Type-A exclusive). “Kimi dake ga Akimeiteita” is the Upcoming Girls (65-80) song (Type-B exclusive). Type-C also includes “Ippo-me Ondo”, which is the AKB48 group official Bon-Odori Song. The 3rd track for Type-D is “Yankii Machinegun”, the theme song for the 5th season of Majisuka Gakuen. All versions come with a DVD which include the MVs for the songs on the CDs.
