AKB48 Reveals Jacket Covers and Short MV for Yuko’s Last Single “Maeshika Mukanee”

AKB48’s 35th single “Maeshika Mukanee“, in which Yuko Oshima takes the center position, will be released on February 26!
Then, they have unveiled the Jacket Covers and the Short MV for the brand new song.
The new song was produced reflecting the image of Yuko Oshima and based on the theme Farewell and Punk Rock.
In the MV, members do powerful performance such as swinging the microphone stand almost like rock star, striking a victory pose, jumping, and head-banging, so you can see the aggressive footage that AKB48 has never published until now.

Looking back on the MV shooting that took place before she made her graduation announcement during “NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen” on New Year’s Eve last year, Oshima told that she had kept the secret determination to herself. She commented, “Members didn’t know about that (graduating from ) of course, but I have attended to the shooting while thinking ‘This is my last Music Video as AKB48 member.'”

The title lettering on the covers was done by a famous calligrapher Takeda Souun, and creator Tetsuo Hirano was in charge of its art direction. The photos were taken by Keiju Takenaka.
Yuko Oshima is going to crown her career as an idol with this cheerful song! This hopeful goodbye shows her character indeed. Please focus your eyes on the culmination of Yuko’s 8 years!
Yuko’s comment
As I announced my graduation only after the video shoot, none of the other members knew this at the time, but I set out knowing that this was going to be my final music video.
Even in the midst of darkness, troubles, and hardships, there is always a shining light. I think that light is different for everyone, but for me, the stage is that shining light. Standing there, looking out into the audience, and surrounded by friends, I find that the stage is a place filled with cheer and hopefulness.
I think that same mentality of heading toward your own shining light and “pushing on!” is reflected in the lyrics to the song “Maeshika Mukanee (Facing Only Forward).”
