AKB48 Groups Request Hour Setlist Best 100 2016 took place from January 22 to January 24, 2016 at Tokyo Dome City Hall. The daytime show on January 24 saw songs that ranked from 40th to 21st, and the evening show was for 20th to 1st place.
The daytime show started with “Hohoemi Popcorn” at 40th place and “Buddy” at 39th. Both were performed by members of HKT48, who, up until this point, only had 3 songs that ranked in the previous 3 shows.
At 38th was “NGT48”, performed by the newest sister group that formed only one year ago, at Request Hour 2015. During the song, center Mina Kato showed off her now famous acrobatic tricks. Despite being nervous, NGT48 members did well at their first Request Hour.
Fans were surprised by the next number – “Suzukake no ki no michi de “Kimi no hohoemi wo yume ni miru” to itte shimattara bokutachi no kankei wa dou kawatte shimau no ka, boku nari ni nan nichi ka kangaeta ue de no yaya kihazukashii ketsuron no you na mono”, which won 1st place at last year’s Request Hour, but only reached 37th this year.
“Yokaze no Shiwaza”, the solo song by Yuki Kashiwagi, closed the daytime show at 21st place. This song has now ranked 6 years in a row, which is no easy feat.

The evening show started with everyone eager to find out which songs were in the top 20.
HKT48 came out strong with “Chameleon Joshikousei” at 18th, “Yumemiru Team KIV” at 17th, “12 Byou” at 13th and “Melon Juice” at 11th.
AKB48’s A-sides also fared well, as “Kokoro no Placard” took 10th, “Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby” took 7th, “Eien Pressure” at 5th and “Halloweek Night” at 4th. Finally it was time for the top 3.
At 3rd place was “47 no Suteki na Machi e” by Team 8, which took 2nd place at AKB48 Solo Request Hour just last week. Ikumi Nanako (Tottori) shed joyful tearss because the song was in top 3 even at the Group Request Hour. Members were then given another surprise – Team 8’s 2nd Year Anniversary Concert will take place in Okinawa on April 2nd and 3rd, 2016.
“Boku ha Shitteiru”, the theme song to SKE48’s documentary feature, took 2nd place. “I’m really surprised that this song ranked 2nd,” said Masana Oya, “thank you so much.”
The song that reigned above every AKB48 group song was “Kiseki wa Maniawanai”, which was Sae Miyazawa’s unit song when she was still in AKB48. Along with Jurina Matsui and ex-member Misato Nonaka, Miyazawa expressed her gratitude and joy by putting on a spectacular dance performance amidst loud cheers. The main event closed with the announcements of her graduation concert and theater performance.
10th Year Anniversary Single
For encore, the group revealed their 43rd single, which is also a commemorative single for their 10th year. It is titled “Kimi wa Melody” and the center is Sakura Miyawaki.
Graduated members other than Minami Takahashi were not part of this performance due to scheduling conflict. More details : http://tokyogirlsupdate.com/sakura-akb48-43rd-kimi-wa-melody-20160176740.html
