After the Tohoku Earthquake on March 11, 2011, the AKB48 group launched a project “Dareka No Tameni – What can I do for someone?” and participated in various activities to support the earthquake recovery. Not only fund-raising activities, this project puts emphasis on having close contact with the people of Tohoku (Northeast) by frequently visiting the disaster area. Starting from May 2011 to February 2015, the AKB48 group visited Tohoku 46 times and held hand-shaking events and performed a mini-live on a truck that served as a stage.

Along with the “Dareka No Tameni – What can I do for someone?” project, they decided to do a free distribution of the earthquake reconstruction support song “Kobushi Ga Kataru Koto” on the Internet. At the same time, they raised funds from the fans and donated them through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
“Kobushi Ga Kataru Koto” can be downloaded from the “Dareka No Tameni” Project website below.
