AKB48 49th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo Event Suspended Due to Thunderstorms!

Just one day before the 80 most popular members of AKB48 and their sister groups were to claim their honors in the AKB48 49th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo at Toyosaki Seaside Park, it was announced via their official blog that the event had been suspended due to a weather forecast of thunderstorms. With an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms to occur throughout the day and into the evening, it was decided that the concert and election results ceremony as previously planned would be cancelled.
Due to the cancellation, all tickets to the event would be refunded. Refunds would also be paid in full to those who booked their travel to Okinawa through a JTB official tour. Those with tickets to the event can use it to attend “100-patsu 98-chu Kanri”, a concert to be held at the AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, and NGT48 theaters. Preparations are being made to broadcast the results ceremony on television and to hold a concert in Okinawa in the near future.
