As it is the “Film Clip Digest” version, it is packed with scenes of the 3 heroines trying to escape the unseen force that is killing all the schoolgirls in Japan. “Real Onigokko”is based on the popular novel of the same name by Yusuke Yamada, the series which has been adapted into 5 films, a manga, TV drama, and game, centered around the theme of a “game of tag” (onigokko) where people are targeted for execution based on a certain characteristic. In the first series on films, people with the family name “Sato” were targeted and in the second series, it was those with blood type B (in Japan, blood types are widely believed to determine a person’s personality traits).

The song is performed by GLIM SPANKY, a group made up of Remi Matsuo (Vocal & Guitar, Songwriting, Art & Design) and Hiroki Kamemoto (Guitar). Here is the live version of the MV which was filmed in front of a sold out crowd at Tokyo Kinema Club on May 17, 2015.

“Real Onigokko” is directed by Shion Sono, who has an extensive career writing and directing unusual films and drama like “Suicide Club”, “Love Exposure”, “Cold Fish”, and “Minna Esper Dayo!” (which Erina Mano starred in). Because this is a horror movie, even if there are three heroines, the chances of all of them making it to the end is unclear. Who will survive this deadly game of tag?
