Yuko Oshima, who is graduating AKB48 on June 2nd, performed a mini live show and handshake event known as “Yuko Oshima Thanksgiving Festival (Oshima Yuko Kanshasai)” on the 23rd in Makuhari Messe, Chiba.

Four songs were energetically performed for the 6,000 audience members who were selected by drawing. It was her first occasion to sing the song “Heavy Rotation” as a solo artist. She said with a smile, “I was thinking I won’t be singing on stage anymore and thought ‘I’m sad because I’m going to miss this’, but in the end, I wanted to do my best and enjoy the performance without holding anything back, so it was fantastic.” And she continued, “This is the first song that I sang as the center of the group, but I thought this song just can’t be done without all members.”

The “Yuko Oshima Museum” was also created, looking back over the past eight years of Yuko’s activities. Among items being displayed were: 115 costumes, 40 pairs of her personal sneakers, a chronological table of her accomplishments, photo panels, 480 raw photos, as well as her Record Award plaques.

Filled with deep emotion, she said, “I was debating if it’s alright to have my Thanksgiving Festival in this huge venue, but I’m thankful that I could do this as I end my eight years at AKB48. Going through this museum, all the memories came back to me one by one. I’m glad that I devoted myself everyday for the past eight years without idling away. Looking back at my days, I have no regrets, and it made me feel that I have done all I can as an AKB48.”

Her Thanksgiving Festival is also to be held on May 5th in Osaka.
