Yuko Oshima, who will be “graduating” AKB48 on June, 9, participated in the handshake and photo session at Tokyo Big Sight, thereby finishing her last meet-and-greet events as an AKB member.
In this event, where the members usually wore their everyday civilian clothes, Oshima chose a school uniform, that is “the origin” of AKB48, as her last outfit. After finishing the photo session and handshakes with all of her fans, she went on stage in front of the 3,000 remaining fans.
Greeted by excited cheering, letters, and banners from fans, Yuko Oshima expressed her deep gratitude: “Today is the last day I can talk to all you guys, take a picture and shake hands as a member of AKB48. I just want to say, thank you all so much!” Marching through the endless fans calling her name, she shook their hands one by one, finally shouting, “See you later!” as she left the assembly hall.
The very service-minded Oshima, who’s handshake-session lines were always the longest, spoke with deep emotion, “I spent a lot of time on my Google Plus account to connect with fans. After all that time I spent, I’m so happy to receive so much love on my final appearance.” She thanked her fans yet again, “I want to thank everyone in the whole nation who brought color to my life.”
Oshima’s career as an AKB member will officially end with a concert in Tokyo Ajinomoto Stadium (June 8th) and the graduation performance at AKB48 Theater (June 9th).
