Two Members from Nogizaka 46 Third Generation Promoted to the Center for the Next Single

On July 9 – on a late night airing of “Nogizaka Under Construction (Nogizaka Koujichuu)” (TV Tokyo syndication), the senbatsu(“selection”) members(i.e. formation) for the 18th single released by Nogizaka46 – to be released on August 9, was announced.

At the studio where the announcement was made, 45 members(including 3rd generation members), with the exception of Sayuri Matsumura – who was not feeling well – were in attendance. As the group approached its 6th year in existence since its creation, this senbatsu announcement came amid high anticipation for the new formation. Called first to stand center stage in double formation was Momoko Ozono, who – while overcome with surprise, trembled as she spoke, “I’m so amazed, but I want to work hard and make sure that I don’t inconvenience everyone.”

Announced next was Yuki Yoda, who tearfully described her aspirations, “I don’t have any special skills among all the 3rd generation members, and actually I think I’m the least skilled, so I’m feeling very insecure, but I’ll do my best to grow and get better.”

Nogizaka46’s captain Reika Sakurai commented, “before, I was in the middle of the pack, age-wise, but when the 3rd generation joined, I became one of the older girls, so I want to become a solid leader.” Yumi Wakatsuki said, “Nogizaka is about to reach its 6th year in existence, and I think we’ll need to start changing a lot of things now.”

The show’s MC – Osamu Shitara of BANANAMAN, offered some supportive words, saying, “many of the girls have cried and said, ‘I can’t do this,’ but in the end they all did a great job.”

The new wind is already blowing in the third direction and we would be able to see the brand new Nogizaka 46 in the next single!
