“AKB48 Solo Request Hour Setlist Best 100 2016” took place from January 16th to January 18th at Tokyo Dome City Hall. There were 2 shows each on January 16th and 17th, and the evening show on January 18th wrapped up the event by presenting ranks 20th to 1st. Even though this was an event for only AKB48 songs, it was SKE48’s Jurina Matsui that shined as her solo song “Akai Pinheel to Professor” was voted into 1st place.

At 19th place was “Gugutasu no Sora” with Haruka Ishida as center, followed by AKB48’s 42nd single “Kuchibiru Be My Baby.”

The 15th generation members were able to achieve their dream of “because we’re the 15th generation, we’d like to aim for the top 15”, as their song “Kimi no Hitomi wa Planetarium” ranked in at 12th.

“Sayonara Surfboard” took 10th place and as it was performed for the first time at a concert; “Halloween Night” was just short of the top 3, ranking in at 4th.

As the master of ceremonies, Miho Miyazaki had many memorable moments throughout the event. Her corner, “Myao’s Room,” received lots of praises from fans. On the final day, she revealed that she had peeped on Mayu Watanabe showering…

“365 Nichi no Kamihikouki”, which was performed during the encore on Day 1 and Day 2, ranked 3rd, and this performance featured Sayaka Yamamoto as center. Yamamoto commented, “This is a special song,” adding, “and now it’s even more significant to me.”

In 2nd place was “47 no Suteki na Machi”, a Team 8 song which ranked 11th last year. After a performance full of joyful tears, a determined Nagisa Sakaguchi (Hokkaido) said that she hopes to see Team 8 get the 1st place ranking next year.

And the song that trumped all the other AKB48 songs to win 1st place was “Akai Pinheel to Professor”, Jurina Matsui’s solo number from the group’s 4th album “Koko ga Rhodes, Koko de Tobe!” Since the group’s 34th single, “Suzukake no Kino Michi de…”, also centered by Jurina Matsui, won 1st place last year, this was her second win in a row. “I’ve learned a lot during my concurrency in AKB48,” said Matsui, who decided to focus on SKE48 and cancelled her concurrent position in AKB48 last year, “I’d like to take these with me and work hard as Jurina Matsui of SKE48.”

This was also Yui Yokoyama’s the first concert as the group’s general manager, and she could be seen fumbling her words, going off on tangents during her stage talk, and doing all sorts of Yui-esque things over the period of 3 days to add her personal touch to the event.
