Idol Renaissance Bring the Feels in the Sentimental MV for “YOU”

Idol Renaissance have revealed the MV for their highly anticipated first single on T-Palette Records “YOU” (release date: March 24).

As with their previous MVs, it takes place in a school and the members dressed all in white but, this time the outfits are different, including jackets and neckties and shorter skirts with knee-high socks. In addition to their high level of dancing and singing performance that has been one of the cornerstones of their rise in popularity, there are several emotional scenes as well. The members read heartfelt letters that have been handwritten by their mothers and towards the end of the video, childhood photos of them are shown on the screen.

Shortly after, they also released a video showing the members reaction to the MV for “YOU”. From Noa Arai watching near motionless with her face in her hands the entire time, to the screaming of screaming of the rest of the group, one might almost think that they were watching a horror movie instead of a music video that they starred in. It is definitely, as the title of the video suggests (“Kandou no arashi”), a “storm of emotions”.

“YOU” is a cover of a song written and performed by Japanese singer-songwriter Senri Oe. “Koi Suru Kankaku” is a cover of Base Ball Bear, the same band who originally wrote and performed “17-sai”, Idol Renaissance’s debut single. “Good day sunshine” is a cover of the song by techno-pop singer-songwiter SAWA. Here is a live performance of Idol Renaissance’s version filmed on October 20, 2014 at Akiba Cultures Theater.

“Dokan Kyoushinkyoku (Ore-hen)” is a cover of punk rock band THE Inazuma Sentai. There isn’t yet a live video of Idol Renaissance performing this song on their channel yet but here is a short clip of the members singing some of the lines from the song to figure out who would sing what parts during the recording.
