No More Twintails? Hatsune Miku Shows New Mature Look in Shampoo Commercial!

Hatsune Miku celebrates her 9th anniversary by adding another world famous actress to her growing list of A-list co-stars in her first shampoo commercial for LUX! Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson appears with the virtual diva as Miku lets down her flowing turquoise hair and shows off a more mature side to her.
The commercial which begins airing on August 31st, the anniversary of her debut, shows Miku walking down the street and mulling over her look which has remained fairly constant since 2007. She happens upon “ScarJo” on a video screen showing a commercial for LUX shampoo (a commercial within a commercial!) and decides to wear her hair down. The scene shifts to Miku in a concert hall singing “Mirai Jokyoku” (Future Overture) and receiving a standing ovation. Backstage, Johansson calls Miku to tell her that, “being true to who you are makes all your dreams possible”.
Despite widespread criticism about the casting of Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi in the upcoming Ghost in the Shell live-action movie, at least she’s trying to make up for it by becoming friends with Miku? If the filmmakers manage to get Miku into the movie, it might help make it less bad?
