Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku pop and important question in the MV for “Nikibi” from their 3rd album “Anarchy” (release date: April 20); would you go on a date with them even if they had a pimple?

The MV for “Nikibi” manages to make pimples cute by putting heart shaped stickers on the noses of the members of Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku as they sing a retro-sounding ballad and the camera zooms through the various dresser mirrors. The horrific details of blemishes is illustrated using models of Mt. Fuji and mochi bubbling up as it is cooked. The lyrics and music are by Kayoko Yoshizawa and arrangement is by Hikaru Ishizawa.

“Nikibi” is the new commercial line for Clearasil and Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku even appear in the commercial as shown below. The redheaded boy in the commercial is “Shikamo-kun”, a reference to a previous Clearasil commercial which aired in Japan in 1989. So wouldn’t be he be like “Son of Shikamo-kun”? How many people in Japan will catch the almost 30 year old reference?

“Anarchy” will be released in a CD/Blu-ray version (Type-A), a 2 CD version (Type-B), and a regular single CD version. The Blu-ray for Type-A includes footage of “Ebichu History Medley”, a nonstop 20 song medley of all their singles, which they performed at Kishidan Banpaku 2015 (September 20, 2015). The second CD for Type-B includes selected live recordings from Toshiwasure Dai Gakugeikai 2015 at Saitama Super Arena (December 12, 2015). A limited number of special posters will be available to those who purchase “Anarchy” at Tower Records stores across Japan. A ticket for a 2-shot event and 1 of 9 randomly selected trading cards will be included in all versions as well. Also being released on the same day will be the Blu-ray for Toshiwasure Dai Gakugeikai 2015 “All Attrac-Star”. Don’t miss it!
