AKB48 Members have the Special Opportunity to Wear Costumes of Flight Attendant in Taipei

“Challenge for ASIA by ANA × AKB48 in Taipei” is a joint project by ANA and AKB48 that supports young people living and working in the Asia region, including Japan. It has been underway since 2013, with “challenge” and “Asia” as its underlying themes.

In this event, Rie Kitahara will be wearing ANA’s new cabin crew uniform, which will be renewed this winter for the first time in ten years; Rena Kato will be wearing ANA’s current cabin crew uniform; and Natsuki Kojima will be wearing an AKB48 outfit.
Every year the occupation of flight attendant is ranked as one of the most sought-after jobs by young women. After trying on the new uniform, Rie Kitahara stated that she was happy to have the special opportunity to wear it. Rena Kato exclaimed that she felt totally transformed by the uniform, it being her first time to ever wear one.

When describing her experience in Taiwan, Rena Kato boasted that she was surprised by her own sense of style: “The three of us went to the night market, which was kind of like a festival, and there we went shrimp-fishing, played darts, and played a bunch of different games together.”
The members also presented photos they took of different parts of Japan, and this spurred a talk about Japan’s own charm. Rie Kitahara showed the photos she took during her trip to Hakone, and she recounted an episode where she “ate an egg that is said to stay good for seven years”. Later when Natsuki Kojima showed pretty photos of bamboo thickets in Kyoto’s Arashiyama, some of the fans let out an inspired “Ohh!!”

At the event, fans were able to high-five the group members, and a lottery was held, where fans were able to win souvenirs that the members had brought from other parts of Japan. The event was charged with excitement.

ANA is recognized internationally as a Star Alliance member. They boast timely flights, offer top-notch cabin service, and are currently entrusted with the maintenance of the Japanese prime minister’s personal jet. They are currently selling a special ticket for foreigners who travel domestically in Japan: the ticket price is fixed no matter the distance of the flight.
