BABYMETAL Ranks In at #5 on U.S. Billboard’s Yearly “World Albums Artist” Chart!!

BABYMETAL took the number five spot on America’s Billboard “World Albums Artist” chart category for the year 2014, and their first album, BABYMETAL, released this year in February ranked in at number seven in the “World Albums” category.
Despite not releasing an overseas album package, and solely relying only digital distribution, they were the only Japanese artist to rank on the charts.
Their first album release, BABYMETAL, in February of 2014, sold over 100,000 copies nationally and continues to be a constant seller. It became an international sensation, topping the iTunes charts in the United States, England, and Germany at number one.
After their two day concert at the Nippon Budokan, they became the youngest female act to hold a performance there, and kicked off their first world tour with stops in France, Germany, England, and America, performing at the biggest rock festivals, additionally appeared as a supporting act for five of Lady Gaga’s American tour performances, acquiring a wide range of fans from heavy metal to pop. They ranked in at number one on American Billboard “World Albums Chart” for the month of September, and successfully held additional one man concerts in New York and London.
The 5,000 seat venue in London where they performed was completely sold out, and it’s already been decided that they will make an appearance at America’s ROCK ON THE RANGE in May of next year where metal gods Judas Priest, Linkin Park, and Slipknot are expected to show.
On (Wednesday) January 7th, 2015, BABYMETAL will release a compilation of footage from their Nippon Budokan performances as well as a live performance CD, and the London concert held in November will be broadcast on the 21st (Sunday) as part of a special late night program on NHK, while the group will make an additional appearance on TV Asahi’s Music Station SUPER LOVE 2014 on the 26th (Sunday).
On top of that, a one man live at Saitama Super Arena on January 10th, 2015, BABYMETAL LEGEND “2015” ~Shinshun Kitsune Matsuri~ has also been decided, and general ticket sales began on December 13th (Saturday).
