On the first day of AKB48’s 3-day Tokyo Dome concert, Anna Iriyama made her first appearance on stage since being attacked by a man with a saw at a handshake event on May 25th. Iriyama appeared on stage during the performance of “Arigatou” (Team B 4th Stage) and was met with shouts of joy from the 42,000 fans in attendance.
Iriyama had previously appeared to greet fans at the AKB48 Theater on June 30th and before the screening of “Documentary of AKB48: The time has come” on July 6th, but it had been almost three months since her last performance. Minami Takahashi prefaced Iriyama’s appearance by announcing “This next song will be sung by ALL of the members of AKB48!” Shouts of “welcome back” from both fans and group members welcomed her back to the spotlight warmly.
Despite her right hand still being covered in a bandage, Iriyama was all smiles, “Good evening, I’m Anna Iriyama.” She continued with, “Even though it’s only this one song, standing here on the Tokyo Dome stage with everyone, I’m very happy today.”
