Setting Sights on Performing Worldwide : Short Interview with Akishibu Project at TALE Festival in Hong Kong

Tokyo Girls Update had some time to sit down with Akishibu Project while they were in Hong Kong for TALE Festival for a short interview.

The members shared what is coming up for the group and their overseas performances ambitions.
– So, it’s been two days since Akishibu Project had arrived in Hong Kong. Did you all manage to do some sightseeing amongst your busy schedule?
Yue Miyatani: We only managed to catch some night views along our way back to the hotel after the performances.
Hinako Kera: We went for dinner at a famous district last night!
Yue Miyatani: We were told that it is called Mongkok.
Yuuna Arakawa: The other idol groups were there too. We had fun in Mongkok even though we are tired.
– Sounds great! You recently wrapped up your livehouse tour in Japan. What do you think is Akishibu Project’s charm point that makes you all stand out amongst the other idols?
Yue Miyatani: We are not very idol-like, but our live is idol-like! (laughs)
Saori Funaki: Our voices are more so of a singer than an idol.
Yue Miyatani: This difference between us in our free time and our live is a charm point!
Hinako Kera: And we are very free! We are a group that has a lot of freedom.
Yue Miyatani: We have a carefree attitude, and each of us have very distinct personalities. I think that makes us very interesting to our fans both as an individual and as a group.
– There seems to be a lot of events for Akishibu Project this summer, including your first single!
Yue Miyatani: Yes! We are really excited for this single. It is a dual A-side single called Summer Summer/セツナツリ(Setsunatori). While both songs are essentially love songs, the feelings that they give off are very different. Summer Summer is the typical cute idol-like love song while Setsunatori is the cool love song.
Hinako Kera: We wore the yukata in the music video for Setsunatori as well!
Yue Miyatani: For our overseas fans, I think us wearing the yukata might bring forth a different experience for them as well.
– Well, speaking of summer, if you have a week off in summer, what will you do?
Miiro Taguchi: Vacation!!!!!
Saori Funaki : BBQ party! I would probably head to somewhere where the sea is pretty. Hawaii would be an ideal choice.
Yuuna Arakawa : I would take a vacation. I just want to rest.
Hinako Kera : Due to work, we are always together. However, I would like a time to go out with the members just for fun. Maybe for a shopping trip?
– Last but not least, you have been to Philippines, Thailand and this time, Hong Kong for overseas performances. If you can choose the next country to perform in, where will you pick?
Yue Miyatani: Singapore!!
Saori Funaki : Korea!!! I really like Korea!
Ami Iseki: Saori can even speak Korean, so we would not have any problems in Korea if we were there for performances!
Yuuna Arakawa: I would like to perform in Paris. I would really like to go on a Europe tour.
Miiro Taguchi : I would like to go to America. I really like Disneyland and so…(laughs) I think going to America would be an eye-opener.
Ami Iseki: For me, it’s London. Similar to Yuuna, I think anywhere in Europe will be great.
Yue Miyatani: I picked Singapore because we had met some Singapore fans during our regular performances in Japan. They gave us a lot of support and are very nice to all the members. Out of these fans, there are some whom always went with us to our overseas performances, and therefore I really want to go to Singapore to perform for them.
Yuuna Arakawa: The Merlion!!! I want to see the Merlion in person if we go to Singapore.
– Well, since personally I’m Singapore, I hope I can see Akishibu Project in Singapore someday soon!
