On the 28th, Mayu Watanabe and Yuki Kashiwagi of AKB48 gave the opening performance of the “TIAT SKY HALL“, opened in the Tokyo Haneda Airport International Terminal.
Watanabe, who graced the hall’s opening day, said, eyes gleaming “It’s my first time to give an opening performance, so I’m honored.” Kashiwagi happily added, “I use Haneda Airport all the time. I do not know if I was able to give back to them, but I am glad I could be involved with this opening.”
They performed six songs in front of, among others, local elementary school students who had been invited.
At the terminal, which has expanded its commercial facilities, several new facilities and stores officially opened on the 28th, including the “Haneda Nihonbashi” bridge that spans 25 meters and is made entirely of cypress, the “TIAT Sky Road” that houses exhibits related to air travel and a flight simulator, and the “Okonomi Yokocho” lined with famous Japanese shops. Before the performance, the AKB48 members toured the facility. Minegishi said “I got excited because there were samurai and ninja just walking around talking to me,” and Watanabe said “the flight simulator was extremely real.”
The terminal is hosting a “Haneda Edo Festival” (free admission) until the 31st.
