AKB48‘s Anna Iriyama who was assaulted and injured at a handshake event in May, took the rostrum before the opening of the theater performance held at Tokyo/Akihabara, and gave a progress report to fans.
Although she appeared at June’s general election vote-counting event and “AKB48’s All Night Nippon” over the phone, it was the first time for her to appear in front of fans after the incident. When she came on stage in plainclothes with her right hand in a cast, there was a scene where she was backed by Captain Minami Takahashi as she forgot to speak perhaps from the strain, but she spoke her feelings including an update that she was “watching TV all the time”.
“Even when I was staying at home alone, your voices were my support. I think I need a little more time before I can fully dance.” She did not set a time of return saying, “I have a place like this to return to and everyone who is waiting for me. I think I will take it easy and begin from what I can do, little by little.”
