Momoiro Clover Z has finally revealed the MV for “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” (release date: January 28), their highly anticipated collaboration single with the legendary American hard rock band KISS.

Despite “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” sharing the musical arrangement with “SAMURAI SON”, the song available on KISS’s version of the single, it’s almost like a DJ sliding a crossfader between two acapella tracks over an instrumental and remixing them. In a continuation of Momoiro Clover Z’s collaborations with famous rock/metal legends, like the cosmic shredfest with Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth) that was “Mōretsu Uchū Kōkyōkyoku Dai 7 Gakushō ‘Mugen no Ai” (2012), and the sharp guitar riff of Tomoyasu Hotei on “Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo” (2012), KISS provides a steadily marching groove that will have listeners pumping their fists and waving their penlights.

The first part of the video directed by Masatsugu Nagasoe features animation by Sushio, famous for his work on the hit anime Kill La Kill. The second part of the video has the members of Momoiro Clover Z switching to live-action, dressed in outfits that fuse their colorful signature style with the leather and spikes of KISS. Perhaps the only criticism about the video was the missed opportunity to have Momoiro CloverZ wearing KISS’ iconic face paint. Well, there are two more things we wanted to see: Gene Simmons breathing fire and the smoking guitar (not possible since Ace Frehley is no longer with KISS).

Additionally, the Momoiro Clover Z channel has uploaded an English language video meant to introduce the group to those who might be finding out them for the first time because of their collaboration with KISS. This might also be helpful when talking about Momoclo (abbreviation of the group’s name) with friends and family who don’t understand Japanese or idols but, if you’re a die-hard momonofu (term for a fan of Momoclo), it’s quite amusing.
