Neo-Japanese group Ultimate Future Weapons mofu (Saishuu Mirai Heiki mofu) have finally arrived to deliver the MV for their debut single “Kaishin no Ichigeki – Critical Massive Attack” (release date: June 24)!
Delicate shakuhachi flute and koto melodies soar above rock beats as the visuals switch back and forth between traditional Shinto shrines and the modern streets of Tokyo. If you watch carefully, you may notice that some of the scenes were filmed in reverse, a risky endeavor considering that the locations include Akihabara and Shibuya! It’s sort of a genjutsu (illusion technique) even if they are using technology to achieve it. Maybe they slipped through time or arrived from an alternate dimension to save modern-day Japan? However, Japan is definitely a country where the modern and ancient co-exist peacefully. You can be in the middle of Akihabara and end up staring face to face with centuries old shrine or temple just minutes later! If you are a fan of Wagakki Band or Heisei Kotohime, you may consider checking out Ultimate Future Weapons mofu (Saishuu Mirai Heiki mofu) as well, even if their name is slightly difficult to remember at first.
“Kaishin no Ichigeki – Critical Massive Attack” will be released in 3 different versions named after ninjutsu techniques: “Suiton no Jutsu”, “Doton no Jutsu”, and “Katon no Jutsu”. The “Suiton no Jutsu” coupling song is “Party Rider”. The coupling song for the “Doton no Jutsu” version is “Samurai Romance”. The “Katon no Jutsu” coupling song is “Scattering Love”. The covers for each version have some visual references to the elements involved as well
