Sunmyu~, the group that has captivated audiences with their nostalgic sound rooted in the “golden age of idols” (the 1980’s), have released the MV for their 8th single “Hajimari no Melody” (release date: March 18).

This is the group’s first single of 2015 and first since the graduation of Tomoka Kyougoku on January 17th. It was performed for the first time on the day of Kyougoku’s graduation, which was also Sunmyu~’s second anniversary concert, “Sunmyu~LIVE 2015 SUN&YOU-2nd Anniversary-Junpaku Sengen~” at Sogetsu Hall in Tokyo’s fashionable Aoyama neighborhood. Misuzu Nishizono commented about the song, saying, “I want people to listen to it and feel positive in times when they are facing new challenges.”

The lyrics of “Hajimari no Melody” are written by Mineko, who wrote the lyrics for “Aoi Kisetsu”, the coupling song from their previous single “Hatsuyuki no Symphony”. Music was composed by Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, who has written songs for: Idoling!!!, AKB48, SKE48, No Sleeves, Watarirouka Hashiritai, as well as Sunmyu~. “Hajimari no Melody” is an uplifting acoustic guitar-driven mid tempo song accented by orchestral strings and featuring vocal harmonies that will feel familiar to fans of classic Japanese music. Reflecting the breezy feel of the song, the visuals are reminiscent of a small island town on the Aegean Sea. It’s as if there is a soft spring breeze blowing throughout the video.

“Hajimari no Melody” will be released in 4 different versions: Type-A, Type-B, Type-C, and regular. Type-A comes with a DVD featuring a regular and dance version of the MV for the song as well as behind the scenes footage from the making of the MV and the photo shoot for the cover of the single. Type-B comes with a DVD featuring documentary clips of “Sunmyu~LIVE 2015 SUN&YOU-2nd Anniversary-Junpaku Sengen~”, and digest video of the concert. Type-C comes with a “changing jacket”, which means there are an additional 7 different images that can be used as the cover of the CD. The regular version includes “Hajimari no Melody” and the coupling song from Type-A.
