Meet Saya, the Japanese Schoolgirl Too Perfect to Be Real!

Saya, the creation of Telyuka, the husband and wife Yuka and Teruyuki Ishikawa, represents an impressive step in creating realistic-looking 3D CG models. The tweet that introduced the world to Saya was met by over 8,000 retweets and 6,000 favorites. Ishikawa explained how difficult it was to get the softness and pureness of youth just right when it came to making Saya look as realistic as possible.

Saya may have just been “born yesterday” but, she already has a job! The Ishikawas will be using her to explain the workflow for creating photorealistic models at CGWorld’s Creative Conference and is set to be the star of a short film that they are working on.

While she looks quite impressive in these pictures, the real test will come when she is called into action, especially with Ishikawa mentioning that she is developing body armor for Saya! There are several impressive looking armor designs on their website which may give an idea of what the finished product will look like. Is it possible that the male characters shown in some of the pictures will be Saya’s costars?

With virtual idols like Kyoko Date, Hatsune Miku, and Aimi Eguchi (AKB48) having come before her, Saya is stepping into some big shoes but, with such an impressive “debut”, it is with high expectations that she will become part of history. Perhaps she will even receive one of those “once in a thousand years” ephithets?
