Saya, the “Japanese schoolgirl too perfect to be real”, took another big step forward as she captivated attendees at CEATEC JAPAN 2016 as her newly evolved form was on display in stunning 8K resolution at the Sharp booth.

Looking back at her 2015 version, which was received with a flood of attention, Saya has done a lot of growing up since then as her 2016 version crosses over the “uncanny valley”, that unsettling feeling where a human replica appears almost human but is just unnatural enough to evoke feelings of revulsion. In the smartphone footage taken by IT Media at CEATEC JAPAN 2016, the video of Saya 2016 shows how Telyuka, the husband and wife team of Yuka and Teruyuki Ishikawa, have made sure all the small imperfections and details were recreated in order to make her look more realistic.

Seeing Saya in motion, thanks to motion capture technology and painstaking attention to detail, she has moved on from just being a hyperrealistic image. She has been born again as a digital human! Be sure to keep checking Telyuka’s site and follow them on Twitter to stay updated on Saya!
