HKT48 kicked off its new tour “HKT48 Spring Live Tour ~Sashiko du Soleil 2016~” at Gaishi Hall in Nagoya on February 6, 2016. They will also perform in arena-sized venues in Tokyo, Kobe and Fukuoka for a total of 8 shows. The 2 Nagoya shows (day show & evening show) had 8,000 tickets each and they were fully sold out for a crowd of 16,000.
It has become a tradition to hold an HKT48 Exhibition of sorts during a tour, and this time was no exception – members’ costumes were on display, and fans were greeted by life-size balloons outside the venue. There was even a photo booth, which created long lines as well. A clown suddenly appeared in the lobby and chose lucky fans to climb up the trolley, which is often used during shows to ferry members around the venue, to take photos.
Lights were out as soon as Overture came on, but no one knew what was going to happen. Nako Yabuki appeared on stage on a unicycle, and opened a treasure chest to start “One Night Carnival”, the hit song from Kishidan, who performed with the group on their latest single, “Shekarashika.” Rino Sashihara and Sakura Miyawaki appeared 15 meters above and took the stage like circus performers.
The concert started with upbeat songs such as “Suki Suki Skip” and “Halloween Night”, followed by “Aidoru no Ousha”, the coupling song to their 4th single “Hikaeme I Love You!”, where 15 members appeared as a drum marching band, showing off their drumming skills specifically trained for this tour.
Different unit songs were performed during the day show and the evening show, and many were songs from sister groups or associated units. As usual, there were skits during the concerts where characters from last year’s “Majisuka Gakuen 0” clashed again, but with many game and anime-related twists: characters that fell were revived by spells, and the battle was decided by a “Kamehame-ha”, the signature skill of Goku from Dragonball Z.
The group’s 3rd single, “Sakura Minna de Tabeta”, ended the first day after 34 songs, which included a medley. The next shows in the series will take place at Yoyogi First Stadium in Tokyo on February 23 and 24, 2016.
Comments from Rino Sashihara:
What a busy day! It was the first time for HKT48 to try flying (referring to entrance) and it was almost like an AKB48 concert! This tour is called “Sashiko du Soleil” and I was not sure what would happen, but looks like it will be circus-esque after all.
Comments from Sakura Miyawaki:
It looked like a very fun concert with lots of circus elements, such as flying, unicycle, drum marching band, and so on. It’s our first tour in 6 months, and we hope it’ll make people want to come back for more after they come to see us.
