“Next Year Budoukan, The Year After That Kouhaku” Maneki Kecha to Get Major Debut From Universal Music!

Maneki Kecha announced their major label debut with Universal Music during the Osaka stop of their Manekari Japan tour at Namba Hatch on March 26, 2017.

Their new single titled “Doudemoiiya/Arikitari na Kotoba de” will be released on June 28th. “Doudemoiiya” was first performed at Zepp Tokyo on the first day of their tour and “Arikitari na Kotoba de” has been one of their standard songs during performances.

I’m really happy to be receiving a major label debut from Universal-san. For some reason, before I realized it, Maneki Kecha CDs disappeared from CD shops so I’m looking forward to seeing lots of our CDs in shops again. I will try my best so that we can get to the Budoukan next year and Kouhaku the year after that. I also want us to appear at Rising Sun which is held during the summer in my home prefecture of Hokkaido.

For me, who had wanted to become a singer since I was very young, Universal is a label I admire since so many artists I love belong to it. Because this is a full-fledged major label debut, I wanted my family and friends who have supported me, and all of you fans to know as soon as possible. It might be far away but, I feel that I can see our goals of Budoukan and appearing at Kouhaku. I want Maneki Kecha to become a group that can be called the face of Universal Music.

I’m really happy to be receiving a major label debut from Universal-san. With the label we have had up until the last single, we were able to get Oricon weekly rankings of 9th and 6th so, I would like to think that we will get even better rankings since moving to Universal-san. It might be shameless of me to say but, I’m hoping that I’ll hear fans saying things like, “As expected of Maneki Kecha”, or “As expected of a major label group”.

I’m really happy to be receiving a major label debut from Universal-san, who everyone knows about. Not just everyone who are fans of idols. I think it’s a good chance for us to have our songs become known by even regular music fans. I will work hard so that this next single will get into the Oricon weekly top 3. I ask for your support.

Because I’m from Aichi, I want to make my grandfather happy by being active on a lot of nationally broadcast music shows. Because my family was overjoyed to hear that it was Universal Music, I was able to show my filial piety. As soon as possible, I want to pay my respects to my family again, next is my grandfather.

Budoukan and Kouhaku seemed like impossible dreams when Maneki Kecha was formed but they have grown to have that awareness. It might be early to say but, I am happy that the Maneki Kecha whirlwind will be taking a big step forward with Universal-san.
