Megumi Koshoji dyed her hair deep blue, which reminded me that she did the same at their concert ”SOLITUDE HOTEL B1” when Kaori Soumoto withdrew from Maison book girl. While thinking whether this is an indication of her spirit, the lights were turned off and an introduction of the song “bathroom” sounded throughout the hall. Although it was drizzling outside, over 400 fans gathered at the place and put their handclaps on it. Appearing for only a day in the famous Dogenzaka hotel district in Shibuya, “solitude hotel 1F” was fully booked.

Maison book girl was welcomed by huge handclaps and Megumi Koshoji appeared on stage with tears on her eyes. We cannot and should not know what exactly she has been thinking from the past to the present. However, her tears may have unconsciously expressed her true emotion. They performed two poems followed by bathroom, which made the audience feel as if they stared in a short film with a video directed by Kenta Sakurai, the producer of Maison book girl.

Moving on after silent poems, Maison book girl switched up the mood with two new songs which were tentatively titled “mbg8” and “mbg9”. The choreography of them looked similar with the arms like a tribal prayer dance. Personally their performance of “mbg9” was very surprising to me. They always look calm, only playing a certain role in their performance but the fantastic atmosphere of their songs helped them to create a chilly mood. I rather like that coldness. However, seeing their vivid and dynamic performance, my thoughts were proved to be totally wrong.

LED lights hanging from the roof started to decorate the show. However, all stage effects including the movie were not pomp, rather austere but they effectively created the distinctive atmosphere. The song “film noir” heated up the audience and there even happened those who lifted each other, moshed, and crowd surfed. Although their songs may be difficult to understand with frequent use of changing rhythms, this upsurge clearly showed how deeply the audience were absorbed in their performance.

After they covered Yosui Inoue’s “Yume no Naka e”, they opened their mouths to speak. They did not think that the tickets would be sold out and had a quarrel about its sale method. Seeing the packed hall, their sorrow was proved to be utterly groundless. Koshoji told that the concert was approaching its end and the audience shouted a customary complaint to them. Aoi Yagawa thanked them for the gesture and rejoiced at being treated like idols.

Lastly, they ran into “my cut” and “snow irony” in quick succession. The audience got most excited on this day, experiencing the passionate performance. Although some seemed violent in their excitement, it could be enjoyed like a scene from a movie. During the last part of “snow irony”, the audience cracked white cyalumes which volunteers had distributed beforehand as a surprise. The white lights hanging over the floor was a fantastic effect to close their concert showing the love from their fans.

An encore began led by claps of seven times. They appeared with their old costumes and started to read a poem. Shouting the verses without microphones, they suddenly dragged the audience into their world. Koshoji asked the audience how the new songs were but her face was filled with confidence. She certainly noticed the warm reception. They again performed “mbg8” and “mbg9” and the concert came to an end.

Maison book girl has been growing up rapidly. They released the information about a live concert with Chaotic Speed King on this day and the tickets are already sold out. They will not stop finding new residents. Personally, they are one of the idol groups that I expect the most from in the near future.
