kz(livetune)‘s collaborations with a variety of artists have been gaining increasing attention since his track ‘Tell Your World’ was featured in Google Chrome’s December 2011 Miku Hatsune commercial, which sparked a massive reception both in Japan and internationally. The exclusive video for his new track ‘Party in the Car‘ has been released in conjunction with the opening of the first ‘Ultra Japan’ EDM festival on September 27th and 28th 2014, and is a result of a collaboration with event partner ‘Driving Kids with Toyota’.
The most exciting thing to come out of this collaboration is the amazing ‘Drift Turntable’, a system which captures information about a car’s movement from sensors attached to the car and turns them into sound! The system tracks the cars movement using 8 unique cameras attached to markers on the car, and emits sounds through the speakers when the car passes certain points. But that’s not all – special effects and projections are triggered according to the DJ’s play, allowing you to experience a visual feast while listening to the music.
The video combines this emotional tune, which features guest vocals from star model Imalu, with images of the smooth-running Toyota 86 in action. The music is accented by the car’s braking sounds, which cut in intermittently. The projections, inspired by the idea of drift and turntables, are simply beautiful.
“I was excited by the idea of performing alongside a car!”, says kz, who goes on to explain that “I believe that this project has shown the possibility of bringing together dance music, driving and digital technology to create a new form of entertainment.”
We have given birth to party music which combines Japanese technology with the ultimate in sound.
