Atsuko Maeda, a former member of AKB48, appeared during “AKB48 2013 Manatsu no Dome Tour ~Mada Mada, Yaranakya Ikenai Koto ga Aru~” held at the Sapporo Dome in Hokkaido, sharing the stage with AKB48 for the first time in about a year.
While Minami Takahashi mentioned the planned appearance by “Acchan” from the start, when Maeda did appear the crowd roared. After performing her solo singles “Flower” and “Kimi wa Boku da” Maeda grew teary-eyed and held her hand over her mouth. The audience had begun to chant “Acchan”.
“Long time no see, everyone. It’s been a year since my graduation. I’m happy to be able to sing in front of you all again. I’m only here a short time, but I hope you enjoy it,” said Maeda with a smile, to the thirty thousand people in the audience.
When the four classmates Tomomi Itano, Haruna Kojima, Minami Takahashi, and Minami Minegishi commented on Maeda having become a woman and that she has become prettier, Maeda replied saying that they “still see each other often,” revealing the continuation of their relationship even after her graduation.
She then performed “Time Machine Nante Iranai”, her third solo single, before leaving the stage where she performed with AKB48 for the first time in a year.
When asked about the “Achhan” chant in the interview after her performance, Maeda said, “I was so happy to hear the chant. I didn’t hear it at first, but when I did I was filled with emotion.
“I heard it vividly once I was done singing—that’s when I really realized I was actually on stage,” she reflected.
After the encore a new unit made up by 7 trainees, announced for the first time during the Fukuoka performance of the tour, appeared on stage and revealed that their unit name is to be “Tentou Chu!” and performed “Kimidake ni Chu! Chu! Chu!”
