ANGERME Unleash Their Elemental Fury at Nakano Sun Plaza: “Black & White” Special 〜Furin Kazan〜!

ANGERME pulled off their autumn tour special stage ANGERME Concert 2017 Autumn “Black & White” Special 〜Furin Kazan〜 on November 11, 2017 at Nakano Sun Plaza.
The tour started in September of 2017 with 18 dates in Japan for a total of 36 performances, which became the first tour of the 10 members after adding Musubu Funaki (concurrently a member of Country Girls) and Ayano Kawamura into the group.
Tickets immediately sold out for both daytime and night performances, each attracting 2,200 fans into the venue. Breaking the heated anticipation, ANGERME appeared in a lustrous black costume and showed an energetic performance. During the MC, leader Ayaka Wada showed confidence by commenting, “I hope you will be fascinated by the stage of ANGERME with these 10 members”.
ANGERME also performed 3 songs from their new Blu-ray/DVD single “Manner Mode/Kisoku Tadashiku Utsukushiku/Kimi Dake Janai sa…friends” (release date: December 13). Starting with the energetic rock tune “Manner Mode”, the members showed a series of rhythmic steps with bright smiles in “Kimidake Janaisa…Friends” that matched the delightful lyrics.
The midpoint of the concert was highlighted by a dance performance which reflected the subtitle “Furin Kazan”, a reference to the battle standard of Sengoku warlord Shingen Takeda based on the teachings on Sun Tzu (as swift as wind, as gentle as forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakable as mountain). Following a short video, Akari Takeuchi (wind), Rikako Sasaki (forest), Mizuki Murota (fire), and leader Ayaka Wada (mountain) expressed their elemental traits through dance.
Dressed in bright white outfits, ANGERME blasted through a 9-song nonstop medley beginning with “Tsugitsugi Zokuzoku” during the second half of the concert. The members were lifted up by a round platform as they performed, coming closer to the fans sitting in the balcony seats. With the first 10-member formation in the group’s history, the voltage in Nakano Sun Plaza surged higher and higher as the concert continued to unfold, powered by their electrifying performance. Finishing with a decisive rendition of “Taiki Bansei”, ANGERME left the stage.
The encore opened with “Kisoku Tadashiku Utsukushiku”, the last of the new songs to be debuted on that day. The uptempo love song full of dangerous feelings and energy was met with a rousing round of applause upon its completion.
As part of the closing remarks, Ayano Kawamura shared her impressions of her first hall tour, excitedly commenting, “I’m so happy that I was able to feel the encouragement from everyone’s voices”. Musubu Funaki added, “For this ‘Furin Kazan’ I feel that I was able to overreach myself by 5 years, no, 100 years as a part of this cool ANGERME”. Looking back at the rehearsals leading up to the concert, Ayaka Wada mused, “With the addition of these 2 (Kawamura and Funaki), I think that ANGERME has become a group with 10 very prominent personalities. I think from now on we will be able to take advantage of that and incorporate that into our performances”. Ending the encore with “Tomo yo”, ANGERME brought down the curtains on the concert amidst a swelling of anticipation of their growing potential as a group.
In conjunction with the concert, ANGERME’s new song “Manner Mode” was made available for early digital distribution starting on November 11, 2017 at 6:00pm (JST). At 9:00pm that evening the smartphone MV for “Manner Mode” was released on ANGERME’s YouTube channel.
ANGERME Live Tour 2017 Aki “Black & White” continues through Japan until December 10, 2017 at Kumamoto B.9 V1 and will be followed by the release of “Manner Mode/Kisoku Tadashiku Utsukushiku/Kimi Dake Janai sa…friends” on December 13, 2017.。
