On December 15, AKB48’s members made appearance at the event titled “Go Global Japan Expo” held at Waseda University as a part of the campaign “Tobitate! Ryugaku JAPAN (Go Study Abroad JAPAN)” hosted by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to accelerate Japanese students to study abroad. To double the Japanese students studying abroad, Japanese government provides various assistances through this campaign.
Eight members of AKB48 (Minami Takahashi, Yui Yokoyama, Ayaka Umeda, Haruka Shimazaki, Mariko Nakamura, Minami Minegishi, Aki Takajo, and Mariya Suzuki) participated in the event to cheer students and sang “Tobitate! Fortune Cookie” that is a special version of “Koisuru! Fortune Cookie”, specially re-written for this campaign by Yasushi Akimoto.
With about 30 students including foreign exchange students, the members performed the song cheerfully. In addition to that, the members and the minister shot a footage together on the stage. It will be available on YouTube, so stay tuned to that.
We hope this campaign will make Japanese students more positive to go study overseas. Everyone, please welcome such students and dance “Fortune Cookie in Love” together!
