AKB48 Announces the Title of their 5th Album, “Tsugi no Ashiato.”

AKB48 has revealed the details on their 5th album, which is scheduled to be released on January 22, 2014, during ‘Koisuru Fortune Cookie’ handshake event held at Yokohama Stadium on December 21.

That was this year’s last AKB’s handshake event, and about 15,000 fans gathered to the venue. 16 AKB members, Anna Iriyama, Rina Kawaei, Ayaka Kikuchi, Yui Yokoyama, Mayu Watanabe, Rie Kitahara, Kuramochi Asuka, Mariya Nagao, Haruka Shimada, Tomu Muto, Ayaka Umeda, Mina Oba, Haruka Shimazaki, Wakana Natori, and Reina Fujie attended.

All members wore Santa Claus costume, because it’s just before Christmas. Furthermore, Santa Hat was given out also to the all audience in the stadium.
So, the stadium was colored with red magnificently.

The members performed 7 songs in total such as “Iiwake Maybe”, “First Rabbit”, “Koisuru Fortune Cookie”, and so on.

During the show, the details of their upcoming album was announced.

Their new album’s title, published this time, is “Tsugi no Ashiato” which means Next Footprints. It will include AKB48′s latest singles (Manatsu no Sounds Good, Gingham Check, UZA, Eien Pressure,So Long!, Sayonara Crawl, Koi Suru Fortune Cookie) and new songs performed by various teams and sub-units. The album will be released in 3 different editions : Type-A, Type-B, and Theater Edition. Both Type-A and Type-B will include 25 songs in total. Each edition will feature 9 brand new songs, and Theater Edition will include one more new song.

Mayu Watanabe commented, “This album has a dreamy catch phrase ‘Our footprints are left in the future.’ This time, 19 songs were newly produced and recorded. There are also special collaborations beyond the groups, too. Furthermore, Type-A will come with a footage of air handshake event (imitated handshake event). So, please stay tuned to the release!”
