For the final artist collaboration of 2013—the 30th anniversary of the brand—shu uemura presents an exclusive holiday collection featuring artwork based on the upcoming animation series “6HP (Six Hearts Princess)” directed by Takashi Murakami, an internationally renowned master of contemporary art, and a leading icon of the Tokyo art scene—an artist who displays the same uniqueness of vision and creativity as Japan’s explosive master of beauty and color, shu uemura.

“6HP” was first previewed at the “Murakami Versailles” exhibition in France in 2010. With this work, Takashi Murakami has captured the essence of the adventures of magical “majokko” (magical witch girls) in animated form. “Majokko” has remained a popular animation genre in Japan for more than a half century; in this world normal girls magically transform into super women to fight the enemy or to solve problems. The new animation work is Takashi Murakami’s modern re-interpretation of this genre, subliminating aspects of Tokyo’s “otaku” subculture and the worlds of cosplay and manga (cartoon in Japanese) into an artwork.

For this unique collaboration with shu uemura, Takashi Murakami took inspiration from his “6HP” animation, creating exclusive packaging featuring pink and black princesses and their magic mascots. He also directed and produced a special animation, “6HP Six Hearts Princess Pink or Black.”

The special animation video collaborates with Hatsune Miku’s song “Pink or Black” produced by livetune, and the special Music Video has been completed.
The song describes a battle of black princess and pink princess embodying the duality of female beauty.
mebae, who is an illustrator and animator, also took charge of the animation director and character design.
