Just days before the finale of their Jū-nin Jū-shoku Live House Tour, Yuuna Arakawa, Natsumi Ishikawa, and Saori Funaki announced their graduations from Akishibu project during the group’s regular one-man live at Shibuya WWW on June 7, 2017.
Arakawa explained her decision in a blog post the following evening, revealing that she had been thinking it over for a long time before she made the announcement. Although her idol life would be coming to a close, she expressed her desire to learn how to understand and perform music “more deeply”.
Ishikawa updated her blog on the evening of June 8th with a lengthy entry, revealing in detail the anxieties that she had that factored in her decision to graduate. Expressing her feelings of inadequacy, she felt like she had to do something and step out on her own.
Funaki shared her feelings in a tweet posted hours after Akishibu project’s live at Shibuya WWW, explaining how she had been thinking about graduation since a year prior, mentioning that there were other things she wanted to do and felt that she could no longer postpone pursuing them.
The final performance of Arakawa, Ishikawa, and Funaki as members of Akishibu project will take place at Akasaka BLITZ on July 27, 2017.
