“Tokyo Otaku Festival 2016 ~Daisenkou Natsu Matsuri~” (aka TOF) was held at club asia in Shibuya, on August 30th. The feature of this event was that both the performers and audience were otaku. At first glance, this event may appear to be a DJ event leaning on the Japanese sub-culture but, it actually was an event of otaku, by otaku, and for otaku.
去る8月30日、渋谷のclub asiaにて「Tokyo Otaku Festival 2016 ~大閃光夏祭り~」(通称：TOF)と題したイベントが行われた。出演者もヲタク、観客もヲタク。一見、サブカルチャー寄りのDJイベントに見えるが、ヲタクがヲタクであることを心ゆくまで楽しむために構成された同イベントは、この夏の歴史にひっそりと爪痕を残した。
Upon entering Club asia, you would see the mass of cyalumes called “Daisenkou” whose quantity of light is the most among the other cyalumes. It was provided for free and otaku cheered the performers using the immeasurable cyalumes. That scene was epic.
会場に入るとまず目につくのは、大量のルミカライト「大閃光」。イベント中はわざわざ購入する必要は無く、無償で提供され続ける大閃光を折っては光らせ、折っては光らせ、、ヲタクはヲタクの限界を突破していく。

The event kicked off with the DJ debut of Yua Ashihara from Tokyo Cheer2 Party. Anna Hirai from Tokyo Cheer2 Party and Misuzu Momoi from Last Question appeared on the stage and cheered along with her. Momoi was especially enthusiastic in wearing the T-shirt of the idol she usually cheers.
イベントはDJ初挑戦となった芦原優愛(Tokyo Cheer2 Party)のDJプレイでスタート。同じくTokyo Cheer2 Partyから平井杏奈、そしてラストクエスチョンの桃井美鈴がステージに上がり、観客を盛り上げた。桃井に至っては、推しているアーティストのTシャツを着用する熱の入れようだった。
One of the highlights of this event was the special area for idols so that they can concentrate on cheering idols freely. There are no borders in the hearts of otaku.
ちなみにTOFの特徴の一つとして、客席には「アイドル専用エリア」が設けられており、出演者や普段はアイドルとして活動している来場者は安心してヲタ活ができる。ヲタクの心に境界線など無い。
Omiyage, the presenter of this event, appeared on the stage. They are not an idol group but idol otaku group who devotes themselves to idols.
会場が盛り上がったところで、イベントのプレゼンター「おみやげ」が登場。アイドルグループではなく、アイドルに生活を捧げるアイドルヲタクグループだ。
The group and audience warmed up with the exercise that the members created “Otaku Dai-i Taisou”. This was to help the otaku in the audience loosen up and prevent any injury or accidents from happening during the event.
まずは自身考案のヲタク体操第一を来場者と一緒に実演。激しく動くライブ中も、事前に身体をほぐしておくことで事故を未然に防ぐことができるということだろう。

Omiyage was followed up by DJ POCHI and the audience welcomed her with the cyalumes arranged in the shape of her name “POCHI”. Shojo Mannequin Mochiko and KAMO ga Negi wo Shottekuru!! appeared and the audience went more and more crazy.
おみやげのステージにつづいて、DJ POCHIが登場。客席にはサイリウムで描かれた「POCHI」の文字が。少女模型 餅子、KAMOがネギをしょってくるッ!!!もステージに登場し、会場はますます正気を失っていく。
The next DJ was Kana Tsuduki with Chikyujin, Hachimitsu★Koutei, and Rin Kawashima as stage acts. The audience from now on used as much cyalumes as they could, which reminded me of the feeling of Climber’s High.
そして、DJは都築かなにバトンタッチ。ステージアクトは地球人、蜂蜜★皇帝、川嶋りんらに受け継がれたが、もうこの頃には大閃光を誰もが当たり前のように折っていく。それはクライマーズ・ハイに似た感覚で、ただひたすらに折っては(ヲタ芸を)打ち、折っては打ち、限界に挑む快感を楽しんでいるようだった。
Omiyage again appeared on the stage to cool down the audience. They introduced a new penlight called “LUMIACE 2 OMEGA”.
さすがにチルアウトする必要性もあったのか、何度も狂気でリミッターが外れそうになる会場に再び「おみやげ」が登場。ヲタクの強い味方、電池式ライトスティック「LUMIACE 2 OMEGA」の商品紹介が行われた。
There are several types of penlights but the one released by LUMICA can switch to 24 colors and it remembers the order of the colors. You can use only the specific color or change the colors in the order according to the idols.

After the introduction of the penlight, there was the last “fireworks” display of the summer as shown in the photo below.
商品紹介の後は、サイリウムの正しい使い方などの紹介VTRや実演での説明が行われた後、
会場全員が大閃光をバルログ持ちしての、この夏最後の「打ち上げ花火」が打ち上げられた。
This was the epic scene that summed up the atmosphere of Tokyo Otaku Festival 2016!
Tokyo Otaku Festival 2016を象徴する、絶景である。
Moving on to the stage of DJ Ichigomodoki, the speed at which the fans consumed the cyalumes sped up considerably.
続いて、DJ苺擬によるステージに移行したが、バルログの一体感からなのか、大閃光を折るスピードはさらに加速。
Haruka Sato from notall, Narumi Shiina from 81moment, Momonesu Chan and Kurumin Monroe from Senkou Road Show, and Anna Mori played the famous tune “nerve”, which destroyed the border between the stage and audience area.
佐藤 遥(notall)、シイナナルミ(81moment)、モモネス・チャン / クルミン・モンロー(閃光ロードショー)、そして森あんならがステージ上から盛り上げたが、鉄板曲「nerve」のイントロが響き渡ると、ステージと客席を隔てるものは完全に取り払われた。
DJ Sioringo from Bandjanaimon! appeared on the stage as the last performer of the evening. During her solo song, all the performers retuned to the stage once more.
そして、イベントのトリとして恋汐りんご(バンドじゃないもん)が登場。心待ちにしていたファンの前でソロ歌唱で応えると、DJプレイ中には出演者が再度ステージ上に登場。

As you see, this summer festival came to the end. There were otaku both on the stage and in the audience. The energy might be summed up rarely, so please prepare for the next time, if it were held though!
こうして、後半に向けて記憶がところどころ飛んでしまうような夏のフェスティバルはフィナーレを迎えた。clubasiaを埋め尽くしたヲタクたち。何度も言うが、ステージ上に立っているのもヲタクのアイドルだ。ここまで局地的にエネルギーが集中するような現場はなかなか他には見当たらない。今回逃したという方は、是非次回開催があれば足を運んでいただきたい。
A drinkable “Tasumian tofu” was provided to the audience, after the event name “TOF”. It was useful to cool down the overheated body. Well-rounded, new texture tofu brink!
帰り際には、Tokyo Otaku Festival = TOF(トフ)にちなんで、巽庵の豆腐が来場者にプレゼントされた。
この豆腐、なんと飲める豆腐となっており、ビタミンゼリーのように疲れた体内に吸収されていく…。
口当たりもまろやか、新感覚の豆腐飲料!?です。
