On November 29, 2015, the 2nd day of SKE48’s “Winter Concert 2015 in Nagoya – The Return of Jurina”, the group held its Request Hour Theater Songs Setlist Best 30 during the day, and Request Hour Single/Album Songs Setlist Best 30 in the evening at Century Hall in Nagoya Congress Center.
Request Hour, where fans vote for their favorite songs, was split into two categories this year, a first for the group. The daytime concert revealed the ranking of theater songs, and the evening concert was for songs from their singles and albums.
The daytime show started with “Boku no Taiyou” at 30th place, “Nice to Meet You!” at 29th and “Nakama no Uta” at 28th. Dressed in pastel costumes, 68 members performed “Nakama no Uta” with SKE48’s usual vigor and set the lively atmosphere for the rest of the show.
Popular SKE48 theater songs such as “Wimbledon e Tsureteitte”, “Ookami to Pride”, “Te wo Tsunaginagara”, “Kizashi” and “Glory Days” soon followed, with a quick surprise cake for Akane Takayanagi, who turned 24 on the same day. “I turned 24 today,” said Takayanagi, “I’d like to try my hands on some new challenges with Team KII members, as well as work harder on my personal endeavors, so please keep supporting me.”
As the show neared its climax, “SKE48 Single Medley KII 5th Version” ranked in at number 4. The fact that a single medley track, with songs like “Choco no Dorei” and “Aishiteraburu”, ranked in the theater songs category surprised just about everyone.
In 3rd place was “Cross”, a song from Team KII Stage “Ramune no Nomikata”, and Takayanagi put up a commanding performance with Ruka Kitano and Yuzuki Hidaka.
“Omoide Ijou”, the signature song of Jurina Matsui from Team S Stage “Seifuku no Me”, took 2nd place, with a mesmerizing performance by Matsui, Miki Yakata and Suzuran Yamauchi.
At the top of the 162 Theater Songs was “Mushi no Ballad” performed by Yukari Yamashita, who also took 1st place last year with the same song. Audience chanted Yamashita’s name and turned the concert hall into a blue sea of penlights as she belted out the song. “Thank you so much. I am really happy that many people requested this song this year,” said Yamashita, “I still can’t believe winning 2 years in a row, but I am really happy. Your words have given me confidence. Even though I sang by myself, I can feel your support around me, and I was able to take the stage more confidently than usual. I hope my gratitude reached you via my song.” The daytime show ended as she spoke with glittering eyes.
The evening show opened with SKE48’s first unit “Love Crescendo”, who just released their first song on November 25, 2015. Yuna Obata, Rara Goto and Maya Sugawara, who were promoted to regular member the day before, took the stage in bright smiles and performed “Koppu no Naka no Komorebi” alongside Jurina Matsui and other members of the unit. 25th place was “Okidoki”, followed by “Kataomoi Finally”, and “Koi Yori mo Dream”, a coupling song by Akari Suda, Kaori Matsumura and Marika Tani, ranked 19th place.
“Aishiterutoka, Aishitetatoka”, one of the coupling songs to “Koppu no Naka no Komorebi” and performed by Furumarion, ranked 20th, while “Anosaki no Mirai made”, another coupling song of the unit single and performed by Caramel Cats, ranked 14th. The concert hall erupted with energy when Suda and Matsumura appeared in the stands for their song “Koko de Ippatsu”, which ranked 4th.
As the evening show reaches the finale, “Kamigami no Ryouiki” took 3rd place. As the coupling song to “Kiss Datte Hidarikiki”, the lineup consisted of 11 1st generation members at the time of release (September 2012), and it was performed by Matsui and Masana Oya, the only 2 1st generation members still in the group.
2nd place was “12 Gatsu no Kangaroo”, with Ryoha Kitagawa and Ami Miyamae as double center.
The song that claimed 1st place out of 112 single and album songs was “Yuudachi no Mae”, a kenkyuusei song that was B-side to “Utsukushii Inazuma”, released in July 2013. The crowd was ecstatic upon learning this song ranked 1st. It was performed by members who were Kenkyuusei at the time, such as Matsumura, Kitagawa and Haruka Kumazaki. With tears in her eyes, Matsumura looked at the members and said, “In the last two days I saw how much you have grown, and I’m really happy. I really hope you can make senbatsu from here on. I’m so glad to have met all of you. Thank you so much.” The evening show ended in applause for this heartwarming episode.
During the evening show encore, it was revealed that the “SKE48 47 Todofuken Tour”, which went on hiatus after the concert in Iwate on June 20, 2015, would start again. It was great news for both members and fans that have been hoping for this development. SKE48’s theater manager Hiroshi Yuasa took the stage to deliver the news: “The national tour will resume. Jurina has returned from her concurrent position in AKB48 and is now SKE48-only, so it would be great if you could lend your support to SKE48’s new start. Thank you very much.” Jurina also commented, “I am happy to hear about the tour restarting, and it would be great if you could continue supporting SKE48 as we grow. Thank you.”
Comments from Members whose songs were in Top 3:
Theater Songs
1st place – Mushi no Ballad, Yukari Yamashita
I’ve been performing this song since the early Team E “Saka Agari” shows. If I were not assigned to perform it, I wouldn’t be here today. I have learned from a lot of people along the way, and there were times when it was really difficult for me to sing it. But I am glad that every year it was ranked in top 10, and it’s unbelievable that it took 1st place 2 years in a row. Many people told me they wanted to see this song at No. 1 again, and it gave me a lot of confidence. I am here today because of your support. I’m grateful for fans, family, members, staff, and everyone else. I hope I was able to convey my gratitude through the song.
2nd place – Omoide Ijou, Jurina Matsui
Every year it ranks high, so I hope this song can become a track that is always loved.
3rd place – Cross, Akane Takayanagi
This song is very important to me, because it was my first unit song. I was a bit lost because I’ve never done something like that before, but I wanted to make this my song and turn it into a song that’s loved by everyone. I’ve been singing it for 4 years and I feel like I’ve finally got the hang out it. Nowadays people cheer when they hear the intro, and it makes me really happy. I’m moved by the fact that it ranked 3rd, but it’s also because I’ve been singing it for 4 years. I am very thankful for the support and I hope “Cross” will continue being loved.
Single/Album Songs
1st place – Yuudachi no Mae, Ryoha Kitagawa, Kaori Matsumura
Kitagawa:
I did not think that this song, which was our first song as kenkyuusei, would rank 1st. It’s the first time we performed the full version, and those who only had lines in the 2nd verse got to perform on stage today as well. I would like to thank everyone who voted for this song.
Matsumura:
I didn’t think this song would rank 1st. There were 22 of us then, and only 12 now, as some went to different teams. They are doing great in their respective teams, which means we don’t get to spend as much time together, but it’s nice to be able to perform on the same stage again, as it brings back memories. Thank you very much.
2nd place – 12 gatsu no Kangaroo, Ryoha Kitagawa, Ami Miyamae
Kitagawa:
I am both happy and surprised that this song, where I was first made center, ranked 2nd. I hope I never forget the anticipation and the anxiety I felt during that time, and keep singing this song to make it more popular. Thank you everyone for voting.
Miyamae:
To me, this was not only the song where I was first made center, but also the song where I learned a lot of things, many of which cannot be expressed with words. I remember every detail from that period whenever I perform this song. I think I learned how to persevere and maintain a strong mentality during that time as well. I’m very glad that through fans, I was able to perform this again at Request hour. My fans and I are always of one mind, and I’m grateful for them. I am really, really blessed. I love this group and the song, and everyone! Thank you very much and please continue supporting us!
3rd place – Kamigami no Ryouiki, Masana Oya
I’m delighted this song ranked 3rd.
There were 23 1st generation members but now it’s down to 2 – every time we sing this song, it’s with less people, so the positioning and lines are different every time. It’s usually performed on special occasions, so we also remember clearly who sang which part. I am grateful for everyone that picked this song because it is very important to us. Thank you very much.
