Shiggy Jr. have unwrapped the romantic old-school MV for “Summer Time Love” (release date: June 24)!
An explosion of neon, acid wash, and feathered hair, the MV has the members of Shiggy Jr. attempting to make Napolitan, Japan’s original pasta creation, on a cooking show. The story centers around a chubby girl looking for a summer romance and as the cooking progresses, she undergoes a transformation which makes her thin! Even when the Napolitan is a complete failure and she is changed back, her denim-clad love interest assures her that he likes her just the way she is and they run off into the sunset.
“Summer Time Love” will be released in a Limited Edition (CD/DVD) and a Regular version (CD-only) as well as iTunes and Reco Choku. The coupling song is titled “keep on raining” and there is an additional remix of “Summer Time Love” included on the CD. The DVD has the MV for “Summer Time Love” and a photo session and making of video from the MV.
While Shiggy Jr. is not often mentioned on Tokyo Girls’ Update, they arranged “1000% no Kataomoi”, the coupling song from Negicco’s hit single “Hikari no Spur” (release date: December 2, 2014) and were one of the musical guests for the first day of “Negicco LIQUIDROOM 2 days” on January 24, 2015. Plus, as supporters of the current “pocchari” (chubby) trend, it only seemed right to show one finding love, even if it’s just in the fictional world of a MV. Ideally, that sort of thing shouldn’t be news since people should be free to love whoever they love, regardless of body type, no?
